SQL Database security
A user is needed with sufficient rights to connect to the SQL Server instance, access the database and to create, edit and delete tables. The user must have rights to insert, update and delete records in the table.
Besides the SQL roles db_datareader and db_datawriter, the db_ddladmin role is also needed, as the db_datawriter role is not allowed to create/delete tables. The db_ddladmin role can create/delete tables but cannot do Select queries.
We don’t advise to use any users to connect with more rights than needed.
We advise to only whitelist the IP addresses that DataBridge uses. See the ‘Security’ section further on this page.
IMAP based email boxes
IMAP settings -like hostname, port, requires SSL, etc.- differ per email provider and can be found with the email providers. For private email servers, like Microsoft Exchange Server, the sysadmin should be able to provide these settings.
IMAP must be enabled. Depending on the email provider, it may or may not be enabled by default.
Gmail has extra layers of security.
An App password needs to be used, but therefore your account must first be set up to use 2 factor authentication: Turn on 2-Step Verification – Computer – Google Account Help
Once this is set up, an App Password can be created: Sign in with app passwords – Google Account Help This password should then be entered into the password field when setting up the profile in DataBridge.
Gmail might still block the connection in spite of this setting being enabled, and require the following extra step from users: https://accounts.google.com/b/0/DisplayUnlockCaptcha
In any case, check the troobleshooting guide: Add Gmail to another email client – Gmail Help
Known issues
Special characters &
and !
are not properly supported by Gmail in the email subject and their use should be avoided. IMAP “search header” command failing when search-text contains exclamation mark (!), ampersand (&), etc
